Marathon Success for Hospice Care Runners

A massive thank you to the 22 amazing runners who completed the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon to support local Hospice Care charity Phyllis Tuckwell.

This event is not for the faint-hearted. It takes months of gruelling training and preparation before runners can claim their well-deserved medal at the end.

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in the marathon to raise money to help fund the care that we provide,” said Fiona Chapman, events fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “It was fantastic to be able to cheer you all on – we’re so proud of you!

Phyllis Tuckwell provides supportive and end of life care for local patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.  Every day it supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers, through medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support, but as the NHS/Government usually only covers about 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 a day to do this.
