Over 400 supporters joined together for a colourful fundraising fun run on Saturday 4th July, to support local hospice care charity Phyllis Tuckwell.

Dash of Colour took place at Frimley Lodge Park, where participants walked, jogged or ran either a 2.5k or a 5k route, and were showered with colourful powder paint on their way round. At six colour stations along the route, Phyllis Tuckwell’s staff and volunteers, as well as staff from some of its corporate supporters, threw red, yellow, blue, green, purple and orange powder paint at the runners as they passed, covering them from head to toe in vibrant colour! Sponsorship money is still coming in, but Phyllis Tuckwell anticipates that the event will have raised over £25,000 to help fund its specialist hospice care.
“Dash is such a fun, community event, and we were thrilled that so many people came along to help us celebrate the opening of your new Hospice and raise money to fund our vital care,” said Laura Moody, events manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Every day we care for over 250 patients, relatives and carers who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, and this money will help us provide the medical, nursing, therapeutic, emotional and practical support that they need at such a difficult time.”
Phyllis Tuckwell would like to thank everyone who took part in Dash of Colour, all those who sponsored them and cheered them on, the local businesses who supported the event including those who sponsored a colour station and came along to help throw the paint at participants: Forest Care on the purple colour station, Branston Adams on the blue station, NTT Data on yellow, and Brewers Decorator Centres on orange. Thank you also to The Bin Cleaning Company for helping to clean up the paint, Blackwater Valley Runners and the many volunteers who came along to support the event, and the Rapid Relief Team for donating water to keep everyone hydrated on such a warm day.
