Phyllis Tuckwell is opening a new charity shop and donation centre at Pew Corner, in Artington, Guildford – and it’s looking for volunteers! Whether you can spare a few hours a week or on an ad hoc basis, you can make a real difference to helping fund hospice care in your local community. No experience is needed—just enthusiasm!

Pew Corner will be opening on Monday 4th May and will sell a wide range of high quality pre-loved items, including ladies’, men’s and children’s clothes, shoes and accessories, books, CDs, DVDs, games, toys, bric-a-brac and even furniture! It’s a large site and will include a shop at the front of the building, a donation centre at the back, and parking.
Before it opens, the stock for this fabulous shop needs to be sorted, priced and arranged into eye-catching displays, ready for the grand opening! If you love the idea of sorting a bag of donations into different categories ready to be sold, or are great at finding out what value items should be priced at, Phyllis Tuckwell would love you to join its team. Maybe you’ve got an eye for antiques, or could create a window display that will stop people in their tracks? Or will your bubbly personality make everyone who comes into the shop feel welcome? Wherever you feel most at home, there’s a role for you. They’re even looking for delivery drivers, to collect donations and deliver purchases that are too large for donors and shoppers to take themselves, such as items of furniture. One thing’s for sure, whatever your role, you’ll be a valued part of this friendly team who care passionately about ensuring that Phyllis Tuckwell’s specialist care is there for all those who need it.
“Our retail volunteers are so important in helping us raise the money we need to continue providing our vital palliative and end of life care,” said Barry Young, head of retail at Phyllis Tuckwell. “You’ll meet new people, gain retail and teamwork experience, and make a big difference in helping our local community. We’ll offer you flexible hours to fit in with your other commitments, as well as initial and ongoing training and support to help you in your role.”
