Remember Loved Ones with Light up a Life

Christmas is a special time, but it can be difficult for those who are missing a loved one. Local Hospice Care charity Phyllis Tuckwell would like to invite all those who are bereaved to its annual Light up a Life service, to remember and celebrate the lives of those who are no longer with us.

The service will take place at 7.45pm on Sunday 7th December, inside Guildford Cathedral, and will also be streamed on Phyllis Tuckwell's website for those who are unable to attend in person. Everyone is welcome to come to the service or watch it online, whether your loved one was cared for by Phyllis Tuckwell or not. Afterwards, at approximately 8.30pm, the names of those who have had a dedication made in their memory will be projected onto the front of the Cathedral, in rotation, until 10pm that evening.

Light up a Life offers an opportunity to remember and celebrate those who are sadly no longer with us. Should you wish to, you can make a personal dedication in memory of someone special to you. Your dedication will appear in the Light up a Life Order of Service, which will be given out at the service and published on Phyllis Tuckwell’s website, and your loved one’s name will be included in the Cathedral projection after the service.

By making a dedication, you will not only honour the memory of your loved one, but also help fund Phyllis Tuckwell's care, ensuring it can continue to support local patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness.

“We offer a warm welcome to all who would like to attend our Light up a Life service, and hope that it offers you a comforting and meaningful way to remember your loved ones at this special time of year,” said Claire McDonald, fundraising manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Our thanks go to Guildford Cathedral for hosting the event, and Right at Home GF for kindly sponsoring it.”

To make a dedication, please call 01252 729446 or email fundraising@pth.org.uk. The deadline for making a dedication is Friday 21st November. Alternatively, you can dedicate a virtual star on Phyllis Tuckwell's online night sky at www.pth.org.uk/lual and view it whenever you wish.

Please help us

All our services are free, but this is only possible due to the generosity of our amazing community. The Government/NHS only provide 25% of our costs, so we need to raise over £25,000 every day to provide our vital services.

Please donate what you can to help keep hospice care available to all those in our community who need us.
