Phyllis Tuckwell’s Cranleigh shop raises over £160,000 a year, money which is vital in helping fund specialist hospice care for local people. But the shop needs more volunteers – can you help?

Phyllis Tuckwell’s welcoming Cranleigh shop is nestled in the heart of the village, and many of its customers return again and again to browse through the wide range of preloved clothes, shoes, accessories, books, music and homeware that it sells. It is supported hugely by its wonderful volunteers, whose help is greatly valued by the charity.
“Our retail volunteers are so important, and bring so much knowledge and skill to our shops,” said Julia Morpeth, voluntary services manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Our Cranleigh shop is really in need of more volunteers to help serve customers, take and sort the donations we are kindly given, price them, and arrange them in eye-catching displays.”
Phyllis Tuckwell provides palliative and end of life care for local patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness. Every day, it supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers, through medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support. It provides all of its services for free, but as the
NHS/Government only cover around 25% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 every single day to do this, and its 18 shops across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire help considerably towards this.
