Our Public Appeal for Your New Hospice

In May, to raise the funds needed to build the new Hospice, we launched the public phase of our fundraising appeal.

Through our special ‘Your New Hospice Appeal', we hope to communicate that this is not Phyllis Tuckwell's new Hospice, it’s yours. The charity is taking on this extraordinary challenge to meet the healthcare needs of over 550,000 people across Surrey and Hampshire.

If you live anywhere in our large catchment area, which extends way beyond our base in Farnham, this will be ‘Your New Hospice’. If we can raise sufficient funds, this incredible facility will be here for you and your loved ones, when you need it most.

We also hope this appeal will help us to communicate how likely it is that people living in our large catchment area will rely on the new Hospice.

As many as one in three people in our area will be supported by Phyllis Tuckwell at the end of their lives, either in the new Hospice or by teams that are based from it. As a result of this incredible project, thousands of people will benefit from the new state-of-the-art facilities, and thousands more people will receive exceptional end of life care in their own homes.

We kickstarted the launch of this exciting 'Your New Hospice Appeal' with an online virtual fundraiser, which took place on the 19th and 20th May.

During this time, hundreds of local people across Surrey and Hampshire enthusiastically responded to our plea for help. Phyllis Tuckwell staff got involved themselves and a group who called themselves ‘The Tuckwell Trekkers’ staged a sponsored walk from our office facility in Farnham to our In-Patient Unit in Camberley.

Collectively, thanks to lots of people giving small amounts (and having lots of fun!), we raised more than £380,000 on that one weekend.

It was a truly fabulous start to an appeal which hopes to raise £millions more over the next 18 months.

The launch also showcased the new appeal video summarising the aims of this extraordinary project. Click here to take a look.

The launch event was swiftly followed by mailings to our supporters and promotional materials appearing on billboards, our vehicles and in our network of 18 shops. It is hoped that this activity and the associated PR will inspire thousands more people to give.

We still have a long way to go to make this project happen. If you, your employer or community group might like to get involved, be it with fundraising or helping us raise awareness, then please do get in touch with us on build@pth.org.uk.

Please help us

All our services are free, but this is only possible due to the generosity of our amazing community. The Government/NHS only provide 25% of our costs, so we need to raise over £25,000 every day to provide our vital services.

Please donate what you can to help keep hospice care available to all those in our community who need us.
