Reach for the sky with Phyllis Tuckwell’s Spinnaker Tower abseil! Enjoy incredible views from the top of this iconic building, before abseiling down the side to raise money for Phyllis Tuckwell.
The abseil will take place on Sunday 4th October, from 1pm, at the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. It's open to anyone aged 14 or over, no matter what your fitness level or experience.
After being kitted out in your safety gear and harness by Phyllis Tuckwell's team of expert abseilers, you’ll be given your safety briefing and then taken up in the high-speed lift – travelling at 4m per second - to the viewing platform. Take a moment to enjoy the incredible views of Portsmouth Harbour, the Solent and even the Isle of Wight – at a breathtaking 100m above sea level – before sitting back on your harness to make your descent. It’ll be an experience to remember!
“This abseil is such an amazing experience,” said Fiona Chapman, Events Fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell, "and by taking part you’ll be supporting the palliative and end of life care that we provide for local patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.”
Every day, Phyllis Tuckwell supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers, through medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support, but as the NHS/Government only cover around 25% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 every day to do this. Registration for the abseil is £30, with a minimum fundraising target of £250.
