Phyllis Tuckwell provides palliative and end of life care for local people who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer. It's Grayshott shop is located in the heart of this picturesque community, and sells a fantastic range of preloved clothes, shoes, accessories, books, toys, games and household items, all at low prices. Its volunteers make it such a friendly and welcoming place, but more are needed to join the team!
As a volunteer, you'll get to know many of the shop’s customers, who pop in to browse through the latest items on sale. With local people regularly donating quality, preloved items, there’s always lots to sort through, price and put on display. It's a social role and you’ll meet new people every day as you chat to and serve customers there.
“Our Grayshott shop is located in such a beautiful area, and has a vibrant, community spirit,” said Julia Morpeth, voluntary services manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “It’s a great place to volunteer, and your help will make such a difference to us.”
Every day, Phyllis Tuckwell supports over 250 local patients, relatives and carers, but as the NHS/Government only covers 25% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 every single day to do this. Its Grayshott shop is one of 18 across its catchment area of West Surrey and North-East Hampshire, which help it to raise this money.
All of Phyllis Tuckwell’s volunteers are offered ongoing support and training to enable them to learn and develop within their role. If you have a few hours to spare and would like to join a friendly and welcoming team, helping a vital local cause, then this could be just the thing for you!
