Tilford Village Fete was organised by Committee Members Andrea Goff, Rob Buckton, Mel Adams and Cathy Middleton (pictured), Sam Mackenzie and Rob Lee.

Held annually on the second Saturday of July, the fete has become something of an institution. Organised by a dedicated committee of volunteer village residents, it hosts over 50 stalls, enabling local businesses, charities and volunteer organisations to promote their causes. A wonderful variety of local food and drink stalls ensure that refreshments are available all day and well into the night, when the evening party takes over and the village green becomes a festival venue like no other. Party goers of all ages are welcome, dancing to local live bands in the marquee and spilling out onto the green. This year saw solo and emerging artists playing throughout the day, after which Rollercoaster headlined the evening party.

“The Tilford Village Fete is a celebration of village life, and a wonderful demonstration of what can be achieved and what fun can be had when local families, friends and businesses all come together,” said a member of the Tilford Village Fete committee. “With the help of all of the generous headline sponsors, stallholders and the local community donating to an array of fantastic raffle prizes drawn at the evening party, the fete not only puts on a fantastic event, but always sets out to donate to worthy local causes, giving all fete supporters the opportunity to give something back.”

“We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the fete committee members and everyone who helped to organise the Tilford Village Fete, all those who went along, and everyone who supported the event,” said Helena Burke, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “£2,500 is an amazing amount of money which could pay for over three weeks’ care from one of our Hospice at Home nurses, who visit patients who have chosen to be cared for, and to spend their last days, in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.”

In addition to the £2,500, Phyllis Tuckwell also raised an additional £359 on its stall at the fete, where it sold berries which had kindly been donated by Hall Hunter’s Tuesley Farm.

Phyllis Tuckwell provides palliative and end of life care for patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer, across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire. Every day it supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers, but as the NHS/Government only cover 25% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 every single day to do this, which is why events such as the Tilford Village Fete are so important.

Thanks go to this year’s sponsors of the fete: Hedgesonline, One Six Events, Pear Tree Interiors, Barley Mow Tilford, Birdworld, Gascoigne-Pees, JTK Adams Ltd, 1st Call, Showshack, Mubarak Mosque, CS Nursery schools Ltd, STOMP fitness, Harvest Wood products, ANA’s Pet'n'Tack.

Please help us

All our services are free, but this is only possible due to the generosity of our amazing community. The Government/NHS only provide 25% of our costs, so we need to raise over £25,000 every day to provide our vital services.

Please donate what you can to help keep hospice care available to all those in our community who need us.
