Held on Sunday 1st December at 11am, at The Wavell School in Farnborough, this wonderfully Christmassy event will see participants wearing Santa suits or reindeer antlers, completing two laps of Queen’s Avenue playing fields, a total of approximately 5k. Those who can’t do both laps are welcome to just do one, and everyone who takes part will receive a medal. The run isn’t timed, so you can complete it at your own pace – running, jogging, walking or even hop, skip and jumping your way round!
“Our Santa Fun Runs are a brilliant event and always get everyone in the festive mood,” said Fiona Chapman, events fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “By getting sponsored to take part, you’ll raise money to help fund the palliative and end of life care that we provide for local patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.”
Phyllis Tuckwell supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers every day, through medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support. While building your new Hospice in Farnham, it continues to offer compassionate care on its In-Patient Unit in Camberley, at the Beacon Centre in Guildford, and in patients’ own homes and care homes. However, as the NHS/Government only covers 25% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 every day to do this.
Get the whole family involved in the Run, or join with a group of friends, and don't forget to bring your four-legged friends too, as dogs are welcome (on a lead). Registration fees will be higher on the day, so sign up now and get ready to have some festive fun. Every penny raised will go towards caring for people who are facing the worst of times this Christmas, so please do try to raise as much as you can.
Registration is £15 for adults and £7 for children (u14) and includes a Santa suit for adults and reindeer antlers for children.
