Zurich Community Trust has generously pledged to give Phyllis Tuckwell £25,000 a year for three years, to help fund the vital palliative and end of life care that this local charity provides.
Zurich Community Trust (ZCT), the charitable arm of Zurich Insurance UK, partners with communities across the country. In 2025, ZCT worked with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) to identify local organisations near every Zurich UK office. Employees were invited to vote for their preferred charities, with the top choices becoming their new local partners. This year, staff in their Farnborough office selected Phyllis Tuckwell as one of just two charity partners in Farnborough.
Phyllis Tuckwell provides hospice care for patients and families in West Surrey and North-East Hampshire who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer. Every day it supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers, through medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support. As the NHS/Government only cover around 25% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 every single day to be able to offer all its services, which it provides free of charge to its patients and their families and carers.
The three-year partnership includes £20,000 each year in funding and a further £5,000 each year to be used for staff training and wellbeing. £20,000 is enough to cover the cost of Phyllis Tuckwell’s Living Well service for over a week. Supporting over 520 patients a year, the Living Well service provides individual and group sessions and activities, led by nurses, therapists, rehabilitation assistants and counsellors, which support patients to manage their symptoms and live life as fully and independently as they can for as long as possible. The service also supports their relatives and carers too, both during their loved one’s illness and into bereavement.

All our services are free, but this is only possible due to the generosity of our amazing community. The Government/NHS only provide 25% of our costs, so we need to raise over £25,000 every day to provide our vital services.
