Local Hospice Care charity Phyllis Tuckwell will be holding its annual Walk for the Wards on Saturday 21st June, the longest day of the year, at the stunning Hampton Estate near Seale. It will be held later in the day than on previous years, so that participants finish the walk as the sun sets over the beautiful Surrey countryside. Phyllis Tuckwell would love for you to help make this a walk to remember, by joining them and walking in memory of a loved one.

The owners of the Hampton Estate have very kindly opened some of the estate’s private land for the event, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore not only public but also private areas of the estate, which they would not otherwise be able to access. You can choose between a 5 or 10 mile route, and are welcome to bring along your four-legged friend, as dogs are welcome (on a lead). At the end of the walk, all participants will receive a hot drink and a bag of tasty treats, including a Krispy Kreme doughnut, to sit and enjoy as the sun goes down.

“We’re delighted to be welcomed back to the Hampton Estate and are excited to be holding our first Walk for the Wards at Sunset,” said Ruth Masters, fundraising manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “We hope it will provide a special opportunity for people to come together to walk in memory of a loved one, enjoy the beautiful countryside, and help raise the vital funds we need to enable us to continue providing our specialist care for patients, families and carers who are living with an advanced or terminal illness. We would like to say a big thank you to the owners of the Hampton Estate for hosting the event, and to the Rapid Relief Team for their support towards providing the tasty treats for participants. We really hope you can join us for what promises to be a beautiful summer evening walk to remember loved ones.”

Every day, Phyllis Tuckwell supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers, through medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support. However, as the NHS/Government only covers 25% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 every day to do this. All of the money raised by Walk for the Wards at Sunset will go towards helping fund its vital care.

Early bird registration is £15 for adults and £12 for children (U14). From 10th May, prices will increase.

Please help us

All our services are free, but this is only possible due to the generosity of our amazing community. The Government/NHS only provide 25% of our costs, so we need to raise over £30,000 every day to provide our vital services.

Please donate what you can to help keep hospice care available to all those in our community who need us.
