Phyllis Tuckwell - Philanthropy & Major Gifts

Philanthropy & Major Gifts

Your philanthropic support is an investment in a better future for hospice care

Why philanthropy matters at Phyllis Tuckwell

In the coming months, we move into our new hospice, growing from 10 to 18 beds and reaching more families than ever before.

As we grow, so does the need for strategic, long-term philanthropic investment in the care that happens inside those walls.

Philanthropy does not simply sustain what exists. It helps us build, evolve and improve hospice care for the future, so more people across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire can receive specialist care when they need it most.

It Costs £30,000 a day

It costs over £30,000 every single day to run our hospice. Your gift helps make that possible.

Making Giving Personal

Our philanthropy team works with each donor on a personal level so they can engage with our work in the way that suits them best.

You will always know:

  • Where your gift is going
  • What it is achieving
  • Who it is helping

See the impact of your support

There are many meaningful ways to support people at the end of life, from pledging a multi-year gift to donating shares or hosting an event.

As a philanthropy partner, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Visit our hospice and see care in action
  • Meet members of our clinical and support teams
  • Attend small, meaningful events and updates
  • Receive direct insight into the difference your support is making

You may like to:

" I can't portray enough how valuable it has been, from the volunteer transport, to the medical support, to the caring side, to being the happy smiley face when he arrives, that connection has been amazing."

Giving tax-effectively

There are several ways to structure a philanthropic gift in a tax-efficient way.

  • Gift Aid: we can claim 25p for every £1 donated at no extra cost to the donor.
  • Payroll giving: donations can be made before tax through an employer’s payroll scheme.
  • Gifts of shares or property: donating listed shares or land can be more tax-efficient than selling and donating the proceeds.
  • Legacies: leaving a gift in a will is free of inheritance tax.
  • Donor Advised Funds: some donors may already hold a Donor Advised Fund and can grant from it to Phyllis Tuckwell.

We recommend speaking with your financial adviser about the most tax-effective way to structure your gift. We are happy to provide any supporting information needed.
