About our Make a Will campaign

Some of our local solicitors and Will writers have kindly offered to write a standard Will, or update an existing one, in return for a donation to Phyllis Tuckwell.

Writing a Will and keeping it up to date are so important, but many of us never get round to doing it.

Writing a Will ensures that:

  • Your wishes are known
  • Your loved ones are provided for,
  • Your money and possessions go to the people and causes you want them to.

How it works

Make a Will offers you professional consultation with a local solicitor or Will writer for a new or updated Will, in return for a donation to Phyllis Tuckwell. Simply choose your preferred solicitor from the list below, complete the booking form and we will make an appointment for you.

At the appointment, you will need to tell the solicitor:

  • What assets you have,
  • Who you want to benefit in the event of your death.

The solicitor will:

  • Tell you if it can be done as a standard or mirror Will, or if it requires specialist advice,
  • Tell you what can be included under the Make a Will service,
  • Give you a separate price for any additional work not covered by the donation, if required.

We suggest a donation of £300 for a single Will and £400 for mirror Wills

There is no obligation to include a gift to Phyllis Tuckwell in your Will. However, if you would like to know more about leaving a gift in your Will, please visit our Gifts in Wills page or ask your chosen solicitor or Will writer for more information.

FAQs

Why do I need a Will?

Having an up-to-date Will enables you to make sure that, in the event of your death, your money will go to the people and causes that you want it to. Without a Will, your estate could end up belonging to the Crown or Government. Having a Will protects the rights of your partner, if you are not married or in a civil partnership, and helps your family and friends take care of your estate, knowing that they are acting on your wishes.

Do I need a solicitor to make a Will?

We would always recommend you consult a solicitor or legal advisor when making or amending your Will. This is to prevent any future complications and expense for your loved ones.

Can I choose any solicitor, or do I have to choose one from this list?

You can choose any solicitor you like to write your Will, but by choosing a solicitor taking part in the Make a Will campaign, from the list below, we receive a donation.

What if I need a Will but cannot afford one?

No worries at all. We have teamed up with online Will writing experts, Octopus Legacy, to offer you the option to write your Will online, for free. Visit Octopus Legacy to find out more.
