£300
A donation of £300 for a standard Will could pay for one of our counsellors for nearly two days, providing compassionate support for a patient or bereaved relative, like Wendy or Robert.
Thank you so much for considering being part of our Make a Will service. It helps raise vital money to fund the care that we provide, and is a great way to show your support for a charity which is close to the hearts of so many in our local community.
Get InvolvedOur Make a Will service offers people the opportunity to write a standard Will, or update an existing one, in return for a donation to Phyllis Tuckwell, instead of paying a solicitor’s fees. Participating solicitors give their time for free to write or update a standard Will or mirror Wills. If a Will is not standard, the solicitor gives a separate price for any additional work required that is not covered by the donation.
Being part of Make a Will is a tangible way to support an important local charity. As the NHS/Government funding we receive only covers 25% of our costs, we have to raise over £25,000 every day to provide our services, and we support over 250 patients, relatives and carers every day.
Taking part will:
We invite people to book a solicitor’s appointment via our online form. We collect the relevant information and their donation, to reduce the amount of admin for solicitors, and schedule their appointments for them, with their chosen solicitor.
The number of appointments you offer is up to your individual firm, but we would really appreciate it if you were able to provide up to 10 appointments throughout the year.
We promote our Make a Will service, and the names and contact details of all the solicitors taking part, throughout the year:
We are also one of the many UK hospices taking part in the national Hospice UK TV and radio advertising campaign, which focuses on gifts in Will, and runs from 16th - 28th February. All our publicity surrounding this campaign will link to our website, where we will have solicitors’ details.
“Wendy was gorgeous, funny and kind,” said her husband, Robert. “She made my world sing.”
Wendy had terminal cancer and was cared for by our Hospice at Home team.
“Phyllis Tuckwell enabled Wendy to spend her last weeks in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her loving family,” said Robert. “I can’t imagine what it would have been like without them.
They were kind and compassionate. It felt like friends coming to the house; they never felt like strangers. We could phone them anytime and someone would help us. Because of them, all I had to worry about was giving Wendy all the love and attention she needed at the end of her life.”
A donation of £300 for a standard Will could pay for one of our counsellors for nearly two days, providing compassionate support for a patient or bereaved relative, like Wendy or Robert.
A donation of £400 for mirror Wills could pay for two days’ specialist nursing care from one of our Hospice at Home nurses, who visit patients like Wendy.
