Course aims
- To help colleagues recognise and understand the impact and effect of a terminal diagnosis / loss for the patient and their loves ones, and our colleagues alike.
Learning outcomes
- Understand the wider losses resulting from terminal illness for the patient and family.
- Understand the losses and impact of bereavement and how it affects people differently and why.
- Recognise and understand the feelings and behaviours associated with loss.
- Understand the grieving process.
- Understand how to support a grieving person.
- Recognise helpful and unhelpful communication with a grieving person.
- Understand how to care for yourself as the professional.
