Carer support

The effect of an advanced or terminal illness can go further than just the patient.

The main carer, and those in their family or friendship network who help to look after them, also often need support. Caring for you as a relative or friend is key, which is why we offer a number of services for you.

Care for a carer, relative or friend

If you are a carer, relative, or friend of a patient, you can contact the Patient & Family Support team to receive advice, support or therapies. Please let us know whether you would prefer to be seen at Headway House in Farnham, the Beacon Centre in Guildford, or in your own home.

We recognise that being a carer can be hard work. Phyllis Tuckwell aims to support our carers and we are always looking at ways to support you. Once on our carer database you will automatically be invited to all carer support events. You can read about all of the services available to you and how you can access them in our Because you're important too booklet. If you'd like a printed copy of this booklet, please contact pafs@pth.org.uk

We provide emotional and practical support for patients and their families that consists of:

"It feels like everyone is a part of one team and everyone’s in contact with everyone else."
