Write Your Will for a Donation to Hospice Care

Have you been thinking… ‘I really need to write my Will’? During Phyllis Tuckwell’s Make a Will Month this April, you can write your Will for free, in return for a donation to the Hospice Care charity.

By writing your Will through Phyllis Tuckwell’s Make a Will Month, you can help patients like Tina’s dad to get the end of life care they need.

Throughout April, a number of local solicitors across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire will be offering a professional consultation and a new standard or updated Will, in return for a donation to Phyllis Tuckwell. All of the money raised will go directly towards helping fund the supportive and end of life care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides for patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer or motor neurone disease.

Without a Will, the law will decide what happens to your estate when you die. By writing your Will and keeping it up to date, you can ensure that when you die, your estate will go to the people and causes that matter to you the most. If you would like to, you can also choose to leave a gift in your Will to a charity which is important to you.

Tina’s dad was cared for by Phyllis Tuckwell, and she wanted to help ensure that they could also be there for others who needed their specialist end of life care, in the future. “Because of the kindness and care they showed my dad, and the care they showed us, I wanted them to be able to carry on for years ahead and help other people the way they helped us,” she said. “They were amazing.”

If you would like to take this opportunity to write or update your Will, please contact your chosen solicitor as soon as possible, as there are a limited number of Wills available from each, and appointments fill up quickly. The solicitors taking part are:  Kidd Rapinet Farnham; Heald Nickinson in Farnham and Camberley; Herrington Carmichael in Farnborough; Clifton Ingram Farnham; Downs Solicitor Godalming; and Woodford Stauffer Farnborough.  Simply choose one and contact them to book an appointment.

“We would like to thank all of the solicitors who are taking part in our Make a Will Month, helping to fund the vital care that we provide for local patients and their families,” said Hannah Robins, legacy officer at Phyllis Tuckwell. “We would also like to thank everyone who, like Tina, has so generously left a gift to us in their Will. These legacies fund the care of 1 in 5 of our patients – that’s 400 patients a year. If you are able to leave a legacy to Phyllis Tuckwell, no matter what the amount, it will help us to continue providing our care for generations to come.”

Every day, Phyllis Tuckwell supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers, but as the NHS/Government usually only covers about 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 a day to do this.

If you have any questions about Make a Will Month, or would like to chat confidentially to Hannah about legacies, please call 01252 729446 or email [email protected]
