Wing Walk Fundraisers Support Hospice Care

Six fearless fundraisers, three barrel rolls and loop-the-loops, and over £6,000 raised for local hospice care! Phyllis Tuckwell’s July Wing Walk event was a huge success, with all who took part enjoying a fantastic day and a thrilling ride atop a biplane.

After being introduced a few years ago, the Wing Walk is now a regular in Phyllis Tuckwell’s calendar, and even one of its own Fundraising team joined in this time round!

“I’d seen some of our wonderful supporters taking part,” said Jenny Newman, Community Fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell, “and it looked like such an amazing thing to do that I decided to sign up myself!”

Jenny wasn’t the only one who enjoyed the day. “I had an absolute blast and so did the family,” said one of the other Wing Walkers. “It was really nice to support each other and meet other people who have been touched by such an incredible charity.”

“We were very lucky with the weather, as it was lovely and sunny while we were there, and started raining literally as we left!” said Fiona Chapman, Events Fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “A huge thank you to all who took part, we’re so glad you all had such a fantastic time, and so far you have raised over £6,000 in total, with more money still coming in!”

All of the money raised by the Wing Walk will go directly towards funding the supportive and end of life care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides for local patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer. £6,000 could pay for nearly two months’ care from one of its counsellors, who provide individual and group counselling sessions for its patients and their families.
