As you can imagine, at Phyllis Tuckwell, we are currently working extremely hard to support our close colleagues in the NHS, as we all respond to the rapidly changing Coronavirus pandemic.
Our patients and families remain at the heart of everything we do. In addition to opening all of our beds and increasing our Care at Home Service to take on more patients, we are constantly responding to the changing needs of our patients and families and adapting the ways we do things, to make sure we can stay fully connected with our patients and families, to give them the palliative care and emotional support which they need so much.
Sadly, most of the fundraising events that we had planned for 2020 have been cancelled or postponed. We also had to temporarily close our 18 shops, however we are now starting a phased reopening of our shops (see dates here). The shop at the Hospice is currently closed and we are not selling plants. Our monthly Hospice plant sales are also not currently running and no date has yet been set for their return.
As a charity the impact that this will have on our income is huge and the long term impact on our income is still uncertain, but there are still ways that you can help us fundraise whilst staying safe at home!
Hosting a virtual PAR-TEA is the perfect way to raise money and have a fun afternoon
with your friends, family or neighbours from the comfort of your own home; all you need
is a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop PC with a camera so you can all see each other!
Alternatively… have you thought about hosting a socially distanced Par-Tea with friends and family? We’ve put together a ‘Par-Tea Socially Distanced Pack’ for this very reason. You could host your very own Bake-Off or even have rounds of trivia to find out who knows their cakes and teas!
Get Quizzical For Phyllis Tuckwell
Everyone loves a pub quiz, but at a time when you can’t get together with friends to make a formidable team, why not host your own quiz with friends online?
We have put together a handy pack to guide you through setting up and hosting your own quiz in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell, and helping us make sure we get through this tough time together.
We want to spread some positivity!
Do you have someone you want to thank for their support? Whether someone has picked up essentials at the shop for you, or whether someone has been on the end of the phone to support your mental health during these challenging times, why not let them know how awesome they are.

Calling all Knitters and Crocheters!
If you have some spare time on your hands during lockdown, and some spare yarn, why not help us make some mini Christmas sacks?
We will be filling them with chocolate coins to sell over the Christmas period!
Declutter for PTHC
Are you having a clear out during lockdown? You may well have some items you no longer use and you would like to donate to Phyllis Tuckwell.
We would absolutely love your decluttered items but we can’t take anything at the moment as our shops are all shut (and therefore nobody is there to take them in), so if you can save them up for us and bring them when our shops are open again, that would be fantastic.
Home Money Box
While you have been decluttering, have you found lots of coins down the back of the sofa? Or maybe old foreign coins from last year’s holiday?
Why not order one of our home money boxes, and save those coins for PTHC?!
