Challenge yourself with one of Phyllis Tuckwell’s skydive days, and raise money for Hospice Care.
Phyllis Tuckwell cares for patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer or motor neurone disease, but only around 20% of its funds come from the NHS/government. It is there day and night for its patients and their loved ones, and provides all of its care free of charge – but it has to raise over £25,000 a day to do this.
“As Don’s condition deteriorated, the Hospice Care at Home team started visiting us daily,” said Yvonne, whose husband Don they cared for. “There are no words to describe how much those visits meant. Don’s face would light up when they arrived. They were so kind and caring, and they really looked after my husband.”
With Phyllis Tuckwell’s help, Don was able to spend his last days at home, where he wanted to be, instead of in hospital or at the Hospice. Could you help fund this amazing, vital care for people like Don and Yvonne?
Phyllis Tuckwell’s skydive days offer you the chance to take part in an exhilarating skydive, whilst raising money by getting sponsored. Run by the Army Parachute Association, the skydive will take place at the UK’s largest skydiving drop zone, in Netheravon, Wiltshire. After an in-depth training session, you’ll be attached to an experienced tandem instructor aboard an aircraft, and at 12,000 feet you’ll make the jump! You’ll freefall for approximately 7,000 feet, at speeds in excess of 120mph, before your instructor deploys the parachute canopy and you begin your gentle five-minute descent to your designated landing zone.
Registration is just £50, with a minimum sponsorship of £450. This £500 is enough to pay for one of Phyllis Tuckwell’s Hospice Care at Home nurses, like the ones who visited Don, for over three days.
“Taking on a challenge like our skydive is such an amazing thing to do, and it really makes a difference,” said Fiona Chapman, events fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Every penny that you raise in sponsorship will go directly to helping patients like Don, and their loved ones, who really need our care at such a difficult time.”
