Make a Will Fortnight

Make A Will Fortnight 2017 – 11th to 24th September 2017

During Make a Will Fortnight you will receive a professional consultation and a new or updated Will from one of our local solicitors, free of charge. In return, we ask that you make a donation to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.

Making a Will and keeping it up to date is one of the most important things you can do, ensuring your wishes are known and your money and possessions go to who you want. Yet many of us just simply never get around to doing it.

How Make a Will Fortnight works

1. You get in touch directly with the solicitor of your choice from the list provided and arrange an appointment during the two-week period.
2.  At the initial meeting, you explain what you want by telling the solicitor what assets you have, and who you want to benefit. The solicitor will tell you if it can be done as a “basic” or standard Will. If what you want requires specialist advice the solicitor will tell you what can be included under the scheme and give you a separate price for the remaining work. All solicitors reserve the right to charge you a fee if your Will is not “basic”.
3. The solicitor will tell you how much the firm would normally have charged for preparing the Will. The average cost of this service is £250-300. You will be given a Phyllis Tuckwell Donation Form to complete and asked to make a donation that reflects the time and effort that the solicitor has given. We would like to suggest a minimum donation of £200 for a basic Will and £300 for mirror Wills, but clearly there is no limit to how much extra you wish to donate.
4. There is no obligation whatsoever to include a gift to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care in your Will. The solicitors will however be able to advise you about the tax effectiveness of gifts in Wills and we hope, if it’s possible for you to do so, you may consider us.

Don’t miss out…

The number of wills available from each solicitor is limited. Last year, appointments filled up very quickly, so make sure you contact your chosen solicitor as soon as you can to book your place for September.
