Members of the Farnham Weyside Rotary Club recently presented a cheque for an amazing £1,325 to local charity Phyllis Tuckwell, which provides supportive and end of life care for patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer. The money was raised through the popular Festival of Transport, which was organised by the Club and held during the Platinum Jubilee Festivities on 5th June in Farnham’s Upper Hart Car Park.
Many people came along to the Festival, to browse around the immaculately restored and kept vintage cars, motorbikes, military vehicles and modern supercars which were on display there. Live music and a performance from Rock Choir added to the atmosphere of this fantastic local event.
Contributions from the drivers and the public raised £1,000 for Phyllis Tuckwell, while its Fundraising team collected £325 on the day through bucket collections, which those there gave generously to.
“We would like to thank Chris Foss, President of the Farnham Weyside Rotary Club, John Vilton who was the main organiser of the Festival, Michael Maher and Michael Buttler for this wonderfully generous donation and for inviting us along to fundraise on the day,” said Samantha West, Community Fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “£1,325 could pay for nearly two weeks’ care from one of our counsellors, who help patients and their loved ones with the emotional impact of living with an advanced or terminal illness, and support families through bereavement.”
“We are delighted that the popular Festival of Transport was able to support the invaluable care that Phyllis Tuckwell provides,” said Chris Foss, President of the Farnham Weyside Rotary Club.
