Phyllis Tuckwell Shops Need Volunteers

Are you looking for a meaningful way to spend some spare time? If so, Phyllis Tuckwell could use your help in one of its 19 charity shops, which are located in towns and villages across West Surrey and North East Hampshire. These shops raise vital money to fund the supportive and end of life care which Phyllis Tuckwell offers to local patients and families who are living with a terminal illness such as cancer – but they need your help.

“Our shops are an important source of income,” says Julia Morpeth, Phyllis Tuckwell’s Voluntary Services Manager. “They help ensure that we are able to offer our medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support to over 250 patients, relatives and carers every day. However, they rely on the support of our local community to keep them running – through generously donating high quality items which they no longer want, which we can sell in our shops, and by volunteering to sort, price and sell these items.”

Phyllis Tuckwell values its volunteers highly and is keen to utilise their broad range of abilities. “Many are looking for a meaningful way to give something back to the local community,” says Ms Morpeth. “Some want to develop their skills, re-train, or get back into the workplace after having had some time off, while others may be students who are looking for volunteering experience, often to help them as they work towards their bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards. We offer training and support to help them develop their skills and really feel that they are making a difference, at the same time as achieving something for themselves.”

Phyllis Tuckwell has shops in Aldershot, Ash, Beacon Hill, Camberley, College Town, Cranleigh, Farnborough, Farncombe, Farnham, Fleet, Frimley, Godalming, Grayshott, Guildford and Haslemere. To find out more about volunteering for Phyllis Tuckwell, please contact your local shop or email
