Masonic Lodge Raises Funds for Hospice Care

Local hospice care charity Phyllis Tuckwell, which provides supportive and end of life care for patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness such as cancer, has recently received a donation of £750 from Headley Masonic Lodge No.9072.

Ian Greenep, Master of Headley Masonic Lodge, presents a cheque for £750 to Tony Carpenter and Charli Quay-Barnham from Phyllis Tuckwell.

The money was raised through the Lodge’s annual Hog Roast, which was held last August. It raised £1,500, half of which was donated to Phyllis Tuckwell, and half to Riding for the Disabled Association. Representatives from both charities were invited to attend a dinner at Bordon Masonic Centre, on Wednesday 20th December, where Tony Carpenter, Director of Marketing at Phyllis Tuckwell, and Charli Quay-Barnham, Phyllis Tuckwell’s Community Fundraising Manager, were presented with a cheque for £750 by Ian Greenep, Master of Headley Lodge.

We would like to thank all of the members of Headley Masonic Lodge for choosing to support Phyllis Tuckwell through their annual Hog Roast,” said Charli. “£750 is enough to pay for nearly a whole week’s care from one of our Hospice Care at Home nurses. These specialist nurses visit patients who are spending their last days at home, providing expert, compassionate care and offering their families much-appreciated emotional support at this difficult time.”

Phyllis Tuckwell cares for patients and their families across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire. Every day it supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers, through medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support. However, as the NHS/Government usually only covers about 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 a day to do this.

Please help us

All our services are free, but this is only possible due to the generosity of our amazing community. The Government/NHS only provide 25% of our costs, so we need to raise over £25,000 every day to provide our vital services.

Please donate what you can to help keep hospice care available to all those in our community who need us.
