Subcutaneous Hydration Competency-based Training

Course aims

  • Discuss the role of the safe management of subcutaneous hydration in the community and community hospital settings.
  • Guidance to underpin assessment and competence for the procedure.

 

Learning outcomes

  • Define hypodermoclysis and indications of use.
  • Illustrate how to calculate and set up an infusion.
  • Have an understanding of safe monitoring process and potential contra-indications.
  • Distinguish roles, responsibilities and expectations of the healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrate aspects of communication, assessment and preparation.
