Golf Club Support Hospice Care

Local Hospice Care charity Phyllis Tuckwell has recently received a donation of £6,318.90 from Hartley Wintney Golf Club, after being chosen by the club as one of its two Charities of the Year in 2019.

Members of the club raised money for the two charities through a variety of events and activities, including charity golf competitions, social events, raffles, donations from members and a sponsored 24 hour golfing challenge.

All of the money donated to Phyllis Tuckwell will go directly towards helping fund the supportive and end of life care which it provides for patients and families in West Surrey and North East Hampshire, who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.

“We selected Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care as one of our charities for 2019 because of personal member experience and the knowledge of how exceptional the charity is in providing end of life care,” said Nigel Savage of Hartley Wintney Golf Club. “Our members are familiar with and very appreciative of the excellent work of Phyllis Tuckwell.”

“We would like to say a huge thank you to the members of Hartley Wintney Golf Club for all their support, and especially to Nigel for kindly putting forward Phyllis Tuckwell as one of their Charities of the Year during his captaincy,” said Charlotte Quay-Barnham, Community Fundraising Manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Every day we support over 250 patients, relatives and carers, but as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of our costs, we have to raise over £20,000 a day to do this.” From fundraising to donating, there are many ways you can support Phyllis Tuckwell.
