Get Your Will Written and Help Provide Hospice Care

During Phyllis Tuckwell’s Make a Will Month this April, local solicitors across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire will be offering a professional consultation and a new standard or updated Will, in return for a donation to Phyllis Tuckwell. All of the money raised will go directly towards helping fund the supportive and end of life care which this vital local charity provides for patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.

Writing your Will and keeping it up to date will ensure that when you die, your estate will go to the people and causes that matter to you the most. Without a Will, the law will decide what happens to your estate when you die. When they write their Will, many people also choose to leave a gift in it to a charity which is close to their heart.

If you would like to take this opportunity to write or update your Will, please contact your chosen solicitor as soon as possible, as there are a limited number of Wills available from each solicitor, and appointments fill up quickly. The solicitors taking part are: BakerLaw Solicitors Farnham; Kidd Rapinet Farnham; Heald Nickinson in Farnham and Camberley; Clifton Ingram Farnham; Downs Solicitor Godalming; and Woodford Stauffer Farnborough. Contact details for these solicitors can be found at www.pth.org.uk/makeawillmonth. Simply choose a solicitor from the list and contact them to book an appointment.

“We are hugely grateful to all of the solicitors who are taking part in Make a Will Month, helping to fund the vital care that we provide for local people,” said Hannah Robins, Legacy Officer at Phyllis Tuckwell. “We would also like to thank all those who have so generously left a gift to us in their Will. These legacies fund the care of 1 in 5 of our patients – that’s 400 patients a year. If you are able to leave a legacy to Phyllis Tuckwell, no matter what the amount, it will help us to continue providing our care for generations to come.”

Every day, Phyllis Tuckwell supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers – in their own homes, in the community, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford – but as annually the NHS/Government usually only covers about 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 a day to do this.
