In addition to the roles listed above, we are currently seeking a Trustee with GP/medical experience to join our Board of Trustees. For an informal discussion please contact Sarah Brocklebank, Chief Executive, on 01252 729400 who would be happy to help, or direct you on to the Chair of Trustees, Michael Maher.
If you want to help…
We would also be most interested in hearing from you if you have a skill or interest that is not listed, but you feel could be of potential benefit to our patients and their families and friends.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life and all ages. As an organisation we believe in offering diversity of opportunity for volunteers and provide those who help us with training and on-going support.
Hopefully, if you are thinking of offering Phyllis Tuckwell your gift of time and skill as a volunteer, you might like to consider the following:
- How much time and commitment can I give to Phyllis Tuckwell?
- What special qualities or skills can I offer?
- Would I feel comfortable and gain satisfaction carrying out this type of role?
- Am I interested in the training and opportunities available?
Volunteers come to Phyllis Tuckwell for different reasons. For many, it’s simply to give back something to the community or as a way of thanks. For some, it’s to fill in a few spare hours and meet people. For others, it can be a prelude to returning to or starting a career or full time work. Whatever your reason for wanting to volunteer, we take great care in making sure that we can offer the appropriate opportunities and placements. We will invite you for an informal chat to give you a better understanding of our work, a chance to look around the Hospice and to discuss how you can contribute as a volunteer. You will also need to complete an application form, which requests two independent referees.
Most patient-facing roles will require will require a standard or enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
