Our Fundraising Promise
As a leading healthcare charity, we’re driven by our mission: To care compassionately for adults living with a terminal illness, and those closest to them, so that they have the best possible quality of life and the patients’ final days are peaceful
…because every day is precious.
We are palliative care specialists providing supportive and end of life care at the Hospice in Farnham, the Beacon Centre in Guildford, in care homes and in patients’ own homes, throughout West Surrey and North East Hampshire.
are core to the delivery of our service and have enabled us to become highly respected in our local community.
It’s an exciting time to join us as we’re currently extending our services, and are looking to resource these developments by employing the best clinical staff.
Please see current vacancies listed below
Our pay scales are highly competitive and, in most cases, exceed NHS scale rates.
We are pleased to offer an annual leave entitlement of six weeks (30 days) for all staff.
Pension Scheme and Life Assurance
If you already have an NHS Pension, you can continue in that scheme to ensure you maintain all of its benefits. Alternatively, you can choose to join our PTHC Pension Scheme – we will match your contributions and you can also benefit from Life Assurance cover.
Our free Benefits Scheme offers staff a wide range of discounts and special offers, including tax-efficient ways to pay for cars, technology and childcare. Save money on shopping, eating out, travel, sport and leisure activities, health screening and spa resorts.
Our Childcare Voucher Scheme is provided through ‘KiddiVouchers’. Based on a salary sacrifice arrangement you can obtain childcare vouchers, which are then exempt from tax and National Insurance.
Health Cash Back Scheme
Opt in to our Health Cash Back scheme, and for a monthly fee you and your immediate family can claim financial help with treatments such as eye tests, glasses and dental check- ups.
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
Get the right advice when you need it most. Our confidential Employee Assistance Programme is there to support you and your immediate family 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with counselling, legal advice, debt support and help on many other matters.
We are passionate about continual learning and offer a wide range of job-related training and wellbeing courses at PTHC, some of which are accredited by the University of Surrey. Our online PTHC Training Tracker program keeps your knowledge up-to- date and includes modules such as data protection, infection control and health & safety. You can also request funding to undertake specific training which, for our more senior nurses, might include nurse prescribing, nurse practitioner and MSc courses.
Our in-house skills training and updates will help you to achieve revalidation, and include topics such as manual handling, syringe driver competencies and symptom management. We also offer DNACPR competencies for CNSs and regular clinical education sessions for all clinical team members.
All nurses are supported through individual and group supervision, which is carried out by trained clinical supervisors.
We believe that a healthy work/life balance is important and, where possible, we try to offer flexible working to fit around our team. You can also request to permanently change your working hours.
Our sick pay starts after four months of continuous service and increases the longer you work here, reaching six months of full pay and six months of half pay after five years of continuous service.
In the case of an emergency, you can take unpaid time to care for your dependants.
We offer compassionate leave of up to five days – depending on circumstances – following the death of a relative.
After a year’s continuous service, employees are entitled up to 18 weeks’ unpaid parental leave in respect of each child or adopted child under the age of 18.
We offer expectant mothers up to 26 weeks ordinary maternity leave, and up to 26 weeks additional maternity leave, making a total of 52 weeks, providing they have at least 26 weeks of continuous service with PTHC. We offer new fathers occupational paternity pay, providing they have at least 26 weeks of continuous service with PTHC.
A healthy and content team enables us to provide the best care to patients and their families, and our regular Wellbeing Days offer all staff cholesterol, blood pressure and heart rate checks, as well as a free complementary therapy taster session, where you can enjoy reflexology, head massage or hand massage.
From sports massages to reflexology, we provide many therapies at a discounted rate, and also offer clubs and classes such as running and yoga.
We will support you through any ongoing physical or mental health problem which is affecting your work, referring you to Occupational Health for an assessment and looking at ways to support you at work.
