Our statement
Phyllis Tuckwell acknowledges the duty of care we have to protect adults and children from harm and neglect. We are committed to ensuring that our safeguarding practices reflect statutory responsbilities, government guidance and complies with best practice.
The welfare and interests of the adult or child at risk is paramount and Phyllis Tuckwell aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation or socio-economic background, are kept safe.
What we will do:
- Promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our patients and their families.
- Value and listen to what the person says.
- Adopt safeguarding best practice through our policies and procedures.
- Share information about safeguarding with other agencies, where appropriate, on a need-to-know basis.
- Ensure each of our staff understand their role and responsibility in respect of safeguarding and for us to give regular training.
- Ensure appropriate action is taken if a concern of abuse is raised.
- Prevent the employment of unsuitable individuals, by recruiting and selecting staff and volunteers carefully, ensuring all necessary checks are made.
- Investigate any concerns made about our staff or volunteers, in an open and transparent manner.
