Steps Under The Stars 2012

Back by popular demand, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice is organising its fifth magical, midnight sponsored walk, in memory of someone special, which attracted over 600 enthusiastic walkers last year! As a fifth year anniversary special the event will be open to both men and women. However, for ladies who still want a girly night out there will be a start time just for you.

Taking place on Saturday 8 September, walkers will meet at Shalford Park in Guildford for warm-up exercises led by Nuffield Health of Farnham. There is a choice of two distances to enable walkers of all abilities to take part. The Gold Star route will cover the full ten miles fromGuildfordto the Hospice in Farnham. Silver Star walkers will end their challenge in Puttenham after four miles. Both destinations will be running a free shuttle service back to your car, courtesy of Stagecoach. All walkers must be over the age of 14 (if you are under 18, you must be accompanied by an adult).

“Steps Under The Stars is perfect for gathering together a group of friends and walking under the midnight sky in memory of a loved one,” saysRuth Scammell, Community & Events Fundraising Manager. “We would like to say a special thank you to the event sponsors Nuffield Health of Farnham, Highpoint Recruitment and Allianz Insurance. Every day the Hospice must fundraise over £15,000 and last year Steps Under The Stars raised almost £90,000 which is fantastic - with help from ladies in our local community we hope to beat this figure in 2012!”

The registration fee of £16 includes your Steps under the Stars t-shirt, celebration breakfast at the finish line along with your well deserved medal.

You can register by calling the Fundraising Team, to request a paper copy of the form, on 01252 729446. Or book online now at www.pthshop.co.uk.

Although the walk is open to both men and women the Hospice is looking for volunteer night owls who might like to help marshal the route and ensure our walkers safely complete their challenge. Please do get in touch if you are able to help!
