SAVE THE DATE - Make A Will Fortnight 10 - 23 September
4 July, 2012
Whether it’s something material or sentimental, we all have something of value to leave behind as a legacy. And yet according to latest figures, at least three out of every five people in England and Wales fail to make a Will.
Making a Will, and keeping it updated, is one of the most important things that you can do in your life; dying without one, or without a Will up to date, can be a real headache and heartache for the people that you leave behind.
However, many of us just simply never get around to doing it.
In September, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice hopes to change that. From the 10 – 23 September 2012, local solicitors have agreed to write a Standard Will*, or change an existing one, in return for a donation to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
*If your Will is not standard, i.e., involves tax or other specialised advice, the solicitor will tell you and agree a fee before going ahead.
To take part, all you have to do is contact with one of the participating solicitors to make an appointment, mention Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Make a Will Fortnight and they will be more than pleased to assist.
Of course, there’s no obligation whatsoever to include a gift in your Will to take advantage of this offer from local solicitors. They will, however, be able to advise you about the tax effectiveness of gifts in Wills and we hope, if it’s possible for you to do so, you might consider us.
We provide all our care for patients and their families free of charge, yet we only receive 12% of our funding from the NHS. As such, legacies fund 20% of our patient care.
So as you can see, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice benefits hugely from gifts in Wills - whatever their value - from thoughtful people who have made provision for their own families and then made a gift to benefit the hospice.
