Calling all midnight walkers!
Welcome to our Steps Under The Stars pages, packed full of all the lastest news on our sponsored midnight walk, in memory of someone special.
This year's event takes place on Saturday 8 September, and for one year only and to mark our 5th anniversary, we are excited to be opening up this event to both men and women! However for all those ladies that still want a girls night out there will be a start time just for you and then a slightly later start time for all our supporters who wish to walk with their husbands, sons, brothers or male colleagues so you can all enjoy this special night.
The night starts at Shalford Park, Guildford, from 9pm and you can either choose to walk either the 10 mile Gold Star route, from Shalford Park to Farnham, or the four mile Silver Star route, from Shalford Park to Puttenham, under the midnight sky
2011 saw 600 ladies take part in the memorable night which raised just over £82,000 for the Hospice. So if you're looking for a magical night out, why not grab your friends, family and colleagues and take your Steps Under The Stars in 2012!

If walking in the dark is not for you, why not help us by volunteering on the night? We are on the look out for male night owls (marshalls) as well as people to help on our stalls and at registration. Please get in touch if you think you can help!
By taking part in Steps Under The Stars, you will be helping us to continue to provide such Specialist Palliative Care under taken by our nurses and their colleagues. In order to do this we have launched Pip’s Appeal. Pip Butler is one of our Staff Nurses in our In-Patient-Unit at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. If you asked any of our patients or their families what she and her colleagues do, they’d say “They care, they really care”. In a typical day, she will provide this specialist care to up to 15 patients and family members, administer as many as 90 pain relieving drugs, help at least one patient return home, take over 3,500 steps, often work beyond the end of her shift, and be back to do it all again the following day.
