Local hospice care charity Phyllis Tuckwell was recently presented with a cheque for £3,320, which was raised in memory of Ian Morrish, who was cared for by the charity and who sadly died at its hospice last November.

The money was raised through a concert held at St Andrew’s Garrison Church in Aldershot, on October 14th, to celebrate the life and music of Ian, who was a talented musician. It included choral and band works, including some of Ian and his family’s most loved music, as well as works which Ian had arranged and composed himself.
The concert was hosted by the Alton Concert Band, The Lydian Singers and the Woking Wind Orchestra, all of whom Ian was involved with following his career with the RAF music services. The money was raised through ticket sale, refreshments, raffle and kind donations made on the night.
“We would like to thank Ian’s family and friends for organising this very moving concert in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell,” said Samantha West, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell, who attended on the night along with several of Phyllis Tuckwell’s volunteers. “It was a lovely tribute to Ian, and it was very touching to see how much Phyllis Tuckwell meant to his son Jeremy and his family.”
£3,320 is enough to pay for one of Phyllis Tuckwell’s In-Patient Unit nurses for just under a month. These nurses provide 24-hour nursing care for up to five patients each, and offer emotional support to their families and carers too.
